4. FINAL REFLECTION ⊹ ࣪ ˖₊˚⋆˙⟡

Over the course of the Information Design module, I’ve gained valuable insights into the power of visual communication and how data can be transformed into engaging, understandable visuals. This module challenged me to think critically not only about design aesthetics but also about clarity, accuracy, and the user experience when delivering information.

One of the most impactful parts of the module was the final project, where I created an infographic poster and a short animated infographic video on The Science of Sleep Stages. This process pushed me to deeply research a topic, analyze key data points, and find a compelling narrative flow. From designing a clear visual hierarchy using wave charts to animating dreamlike transitions that represented REM, Deep, and Light Sleep, I learned how storytelling and motion can make data more relatable and memorable.

I also developed my technical skills using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects, gaining confidence in both static and motion-based information design. Applying principles such as contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity helped me create more cohesive and aesthetically pleasing visuals. Feedback from peers and lecturers played a crucial role in refining my designs and learning how to improve communication through iteration.

Most importantly, I now appreciate the importance of designing for an audience. Whether it's through typography, color psychology, or interactive layouts, good information design should always serve its purpose—making complex information easy to digest.

In conclusion, this module has strengthened my visual communication skills and sparked a deeper interest in designing for understanding. I look forward to applying these skills in future projects and possibly pursuing a career path related to visual storytelling, UI/UX, or motion graphics.
